The Nail Files Thursday- Introduction

Welcome to The Nail Files Thursday! From now onwards most posts on a Thursday will be dedicated to all things nail care and nail art. Are you excited?! I certainly am!

I ventured into the world of all things nail polish and nail art a little over a year ago now. I was looking for something fun and creative to do that would distract me from the pounding pain whilst not causing any extra exhaustion. When I was going through a particularly hard time dealing with my illnesses emotionally a counsellor told me to go and paint my nails. I took their advice and found that I couldn't stop at just slapping on a few coats of paint. It was at that point that I discovered my love of nail art and I've been hooked ever since! I find dabbling in some nail art every couple of weeks or so extremely therapeutic. I often find myself thinking about nail polish. Okay, I will admit, I think about it LOTS! What new nail polish should I try out next? What new designs can I attempt?

It's amazing how a fresh coat of polish can brighten your mood and although this may sound totally ridiculous to some- having nice nails helps me get though the tough times. Whether it's pretty pastel pinks, lovely lavenders or bright hooker red colours; having something pretty to look at when that is the last thing I'm feeling on the inside makes me happy. I love how some of my designs become conversation starters and I delight in compliments from complete strangers in shopping centres.

With a growing nail stamp, nail stickers and rhinestones collection and 50 plus bottles of nail polish and counting, I'm a nail art addict. I love to experiment with different colours and designs and draw inspiration from other nail art bloggers and online tutorials.

The Nail Files are the adventures (and misadventures) of a lacquer lover living creatively despite chronic illness. I may be chronically ill, but I'm also chronically creative.... and it's contagious!

Here's a sneak peak of what's to come

Ohhhh I'm excited :)

My nails are horrible right now! I had a light blue BYS nail polish on the other week because I really wanted to paint my nails so I borrowed my bf's mums... well, never using that brand again! It looked alright but my nails all started splitting after about a week and once I took the polish off, my nails were all rough and disgusting.

I buffed them and they are getting a bit better now but they're still splitting a bit :(

I had a really yummy colour on my toe nails though - it was Inglot nail polish - expensive, but so worth it :)

YAY! Oh that's interesting, I quite like that brand, although some colours can be a bit dodgy. I have a gel overlay over the top of my natural nails to prevent them from breaking, chipping and splitting. I've never tried inglot polish, I tried their makeup and absolutely hated it, I won't be buying it again, that's for sure! Kind of tempted to try their nail polish though. I tend to use a lot of OPI and china glaze for my manicures :)
